Freestyle VMs have a monthly plan that sets included usage and account limits.
Free never bills for usage. Hobby and Pro are the paid tiers, with monthly
minimums that are fully usable as included usage.

## Plans

| Plan | Price | Concurrent VMs |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Free** | $0 | Up to 10 |
| **Hobby** | $50/month minimum, including $50 usage | Up to 40 |
| **Pro** | $500/month minimum, including $500 usage | Up to 400 |
| **Enterprise** | Custom | Custom |

Adding a card to a Free account charges **$1 USD for verification**, then
Freestyle automatically issues a full refund to that card. Your bank may take
several days to show the refund. This also applies when adding a card before
upgrading from Free to a paid plan; the verification payment does not pay for
the plan or add usage credit. Free has no recurring or usage charges.

The Hobby and Pro monthly fees are a usage credit, not a surcharge: your first
$50 (Hobby) or $500 (Pro) of usage each month is already covered by the plan
fee, and you are only billed for usage beyond it. Enterprise plans add custom
usage limits, SAML SSO & SCIM, audit logs, a 99.99% SLA, and dedicated support
— [contact our sales team](https://cal.com/freestyle/enterprise-onboarding?overlayCalendar=true) to set one up.

## Usage pricing

Compute is metered per second and billed per hour of resource used. vCPU,
memory and storage are all billed on the amount allocated to the VM for the
time it is allocated — a reserved core is yours whether or not the guest is
busy. A paused VM holds no compute reservation, so it bills only for storage
while it sleeps.

| Resource | Price | Free included |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Hour of vCPU | $0.04032 | 200 per month |
| Hour of GiB memory | $0.0129 | 400 per month |
| Hour of GiB storage | $0.000086 | 60,000 per month |
| GB of data transfer | $0.02 | 50 per month |

The free-included amounts reset monthly and apply to every plan. On Free, they
are hard allowances and usage does not continue into paid overage. On Hobby and
higher tiers, only usage above the monthly included amounts counts toward your
monthly total.

Data transfer is the one included amount that differs by plan: Free includes
50 GB a month, and Hobby and Pro include 500 GB before transfer is priced. It
counts bytes crossing the datacenter boundary in either direction. Traffic
between your own VMs inside a VPC is not counted and is never billed.

## Plan limits

| Limit | Free | Hobby | Pro |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Concurrent VMs | 10 | 40 | 400 |
| Saved VMs | 10 | 200 | 4,000 |
| Snapshots | 10 | 1,000 | 12,000 |
| Persistent VMs | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Max vCPUs per VM | 4 | 8 | 32 |
| Max memory per VM | 8 GiB | 16 GiB | 64 GiB |
| Max disk per VM | 32 GB | 64 GB | 256 GB |

- **Concurrent VMs** is the number of VMs your account can have running (or
starting or pausing) at once. It is the limit you are most likely to hit
  in normal use.
- **Saved VMs** is how many VMs you can have at all, running or not. It
  carries an accompanying [resource budget](#total-provisioned-resources).
- **Per-VM maximums** are upper bounds, not fixed sizes. Every plan can create
a VM at any valid size up to its CPU, memory, and disk maximums.
- **Persistent VMs** keep their disk once stopped, so they can start again.
An ephemeral VM (`autoDeleteSeconds: 0`) is deleted when it stops. Snapshots
are separate: you can snapshot an ephemeral VM, and snapshots are kept until
  you delete them.
- **Snapshots** counts only snapshots you create. The shared
[base snapshots](https://www.freestyle.sh/docs/vms/base-snapshots) don't count toward your limit.

## Total provisioned resources

Your VMs draw on a resource budget in vCPU, memory, and disk. The vCPU and
memory budgets count only VMs that are running (or starting or pausing) — a
VM at rest holds no compute, so stopping or pausing releases its share, and
starting it claims the share back. The disk budget counts every saved VM,
running or not, since the disk is kept either way.

| Plan | Saved VMs | Total vCPU | Total memory | Total disk |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Free** | 10 | 40 | 80 GiB | 320 GB |
| **Hobby** | 200 | 800 | 1.56 TiB | 3,125 GB |
| **Pro** | 4,000 | 16,000 | 31.25 TiB | 62,500 GB |

For saved VMs, **disk is therefore the binding budget**. At the default size
it runs out exactly with the saved-VM count on Free, and before it on Hobby
and Pro:

| Every VM sized at | Free | Hobby | Pro |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Default (4 vCPU / 8 GiB / 32 GB) | 10 | 97 | 1,953 |
| `freestyle/busybox` (1 vCPU / 128 MiB / 1 GB) | 10 | 200 | 4,000 |
| 8 vCPU / 16 GiB / 64 GB | — | 48 | 976 |
| 32 vCPU / 64 GiB / 128 GB | — | — | 488 |

Smaller VMs earn no extra slots — the saved-VM count is a hard ceiling, and
every plan permits sizes up to its per-VM maximums. Mixed sizes draw from the
same pool.

## Default VM specs

When you create a VM without requesting a specific size, it boots with:

- **4 vCPUs**
- **8 GiB memory**
- **32 GB disk**

VMs always start at their snapshot's size. Need more? On Hobby and Pro,
[resize](https://www.freestyle.sh/docs/vms/lifecycle#resize) the VM up — up to your plan's per-VM
maximums. The Free plan can use smaller VM sizes, but its maximum is the
default size shown above.

## What happens when you hit a limit

The request is rejected and the error tells you which limit you hit and how to
raise it. If a plan is downgraded while a running VM is too large or uses
persistence the new plan does not allow, that VM is paused with its disk and
memory preserved. It does not resume automatically.

On Free, exhausting a monthly compute allowance pauses affected VMs until you
resume them after the allowance resets; upgrade to Hobby to continue into paid
usage. On Hobby and higher tiers, usage above the monthly included amounts
continues and accrues to your monthly total.

## Enterprise options

Enterprise customers can go beyond the standard plans:

- **Custom limits** — raise concurrent-VM, storage, and per-VM caps beyond
the Pro tier for large fleets.
- **Active CPU pricing** — bill on measured CPU time rather than allocated
vCPU, so you only pay for compute you actually use.
- **Node-based pricing** — reserve dedicated capacity at a flat rate instead
  of per-resource usage billing.
- **Commitment discounts** — reduced rates in exchange for a usage or spend
  commitment.
